Mini Saga is on Friesen Press staff picks. This travel memoir explores the political climate of South Africa during Apartheid. It also describes staying in Bushman Caves, studying Bushman rock paintings as well as hiking in the mountains and viewing the abundant wildlife. MINI SAGA IN SOUTH AFRICA is now published. The book launch will take place at Art Space above Books and Company in Prince George on Saturday October 28th at 7pm. There will be some readings from this new travel memoir followed by a slide-show of travel in South Africa, including hiking in the mountains and viewing wildlife. Light refreshments will be served. This is a free event and all are welcome.
Mini Saga in South Africa explores the influence of the church on Apartheid with comparison to the Indigenous situation in Canada. It also explains how chance encounters in early life can influence one’s life path and the importance of grasping opportunities as they present, to enrich life experiences.
MINI SAGA IN SOUTH AFRICA

A third book has been submitted for publication to Friesen Press. This one is on travel in South Africa during Apartheid with political comment on its effect on the African people. Highlights are meetings with interesting and influential people such as Helen Suzman, Father Trevor Huddleston, Author Alan Paton, Ken Johnson – canon of Zululand and Harald Pager archeologist studying Bushman rock art. We explore not only how the church influenced the narrator but also how the church influenced Apartheid and the direction of the South African government. Mini Saga in South Africa should be available for sale later this year, 2023. It will be available through many bookstores as well as digitally. Readers learn about Gross National Happiness, about Buddhist culture and about how people live successfully, yet simply, in harmony with nature in these harsh environments.
